Well, we are still in the hospital. That’s the bad news. The good news is that Roxy still feels fine and has been in a good mood since we’ve been here. Her counts are still low so she had another red blood cell transfusion today. Her white blood cell counts doubled from yesterday to today, but they are still super low, so we are still waiting. In order to go home, her blood counts need to be making a significant trend upward and she needs to be fever-free for 24 hours. Right now she is at 12 hours without a fever. Hopefully that continues and we can check it off the list. Then it’s just a matter of waiting for the blood counts. They run a CBC at 4 a.m. every day so we just wait for those results. Their best guess is that we will be able to go home Thursday or Friday. The great thing is that means a weekend at home! Yea!!! And she gets a little break before her next chemo. They have pushed that back until next week sometime. We won’t know when until we leave. That’s an easy overnight stay, though.
Thanks everyone for the thoughts and prayers. Have a great night!

I hope the weekend home is a go!! And you’re all champs as far as my thoughts go 🙂 I just wanted to drop by and send my love…. and remind you that in order to be the best caretaker for Roxy, you need to take care of yourself!! It can be as simple as prettying up your nails, having a nice meal w/ just Scott, taking a little “Stacey time,” or having a little mom-and-Brie time. I know you’re Supermom, but I cannot stress the importance of you and Scott taking care of each other and of yourselves. It will make you a better caregiver for BOTH of your fab girls.

I’m not just spouting nurse nonsense….. I have some personal experience with this one. I never really believed all the hype til I was rundown, exhausted, and forced by some great people to recharge on my own. It’s a hard thing to do, terrifying to not be there…. but it’s needed. You never really notice how much you need it until you have some quality “me time”…. and DO NOT FEEL GUILTY. It’s okay to be a little selfish and sneak away here and there… it will help you keep your sanity.

Lots of love, prayers, and good juju your way. And as always, I’ll help whenever, wherever and however it’s needed. And thank you for being fantastic enough to update everyone on the regular! You’re such a strong, amazing lady!
